Butte & Anaconda Montana

Our Lady of the Rockies is a 90-foot statue, dedicated to women, that sits atop the Continential Divide overlooking Butte. It is the second tallest statue in the U.S. after The Statue Of Liberty.

The Berkeley Pit is a former open pit copper mine located in Butte. It is one mile long by half a mile wide with an approximate depth of 1,780 feet. It is filled to a depth of about 900 feet with water that is heavily acidic

The tallest freestanding masonry structure in the world looms out of the clouds on the east side of Anaconda, Montana. At 585 feet tall it is taller than the Washington Monument and the Statue of Liberty- it has been silent since 1980 when Anaconda shut the smelter down and was declared a state historic site in 1985. This is as close as you can legally get to the structure as all the surrounding lands are a restricted federal superfund site.
